Driving along our backcountry roads gives one an appreciation for McHenry County's long agricultural history. Grand old barns are important tangible reminders of America’s farming roots. These symbols of American character speak of generations of farming tradition and connectedness to the land. As urban growth transforms the rural country landscape, many of these magnificent old structures will face destruction.

The McHenry County Historical Barn Preservation Association strives to secure rare and unique old barns for future generations to enjoy.
